The first test flight of an ultralong-range business jet powered by 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) was achieved using a Rolls-Royce BR725-powered Gulfstream G650 twin-jet over Gulfstream’s headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. At present, SAF is only certified for blends of up to 50% with conventional jet fuel and can be used on all current Rolls-Royce engines.
Under the agreement, GlobeAir, intends to purchase 12 Lilium Jets to provide premium and business eVTOL flights to its customer base in the French Riviera and Italy.
Alice lifted off at 7:10 a.m. from Grant County International Airport (MWH) in Moses Lake, WA, flying for 8 minutes at an altitude of 3,500 feet. This trailblazing flight of the technology demonstrator provided Eviation with invaluable data to further optimize the aircraft for commercial production.
Alder Fuels uses sustainable biomass, such as regenerative grasses, forest residues, and agricultural waste products, to create a low-carbon to carbon-negative greencrude that can be converted into SAF using existing bio and petroleum refinery infrastructure. In contrast to first generation SAF, which was primarily generated from non-scalable supplies of fats, oils, and grease, these biomass sources are abundantly available, and when repurposed, can contribute to soil regeneration and wildfire mitigation.
