Making Connectivity Plane Simple With SATCOM DIRECT

Satcom Direct announced the qualification of the Satcom Direct Plane Simple™ Antenna System on the Intelsat FlexExec network in January this year. The verification follows months of diligent testing and optimization by both companies and confirms that the first network integrated SD Plane Simple terminal, designed exclusively for business aviation, is fully compatible with the world’s first dedicated network capacity for business aviation, the Intelsat FlexExec service.

“Until now high-speed capabilities have remained the domain of the large jet market, but this qualification opens up the possibilities for more jet sizes to benefit from the advantages and convenience of high-speed broadband,” explains Chris Moore, President Satcom Direct Business Aviation.

The Intelsat FlexExec service is a global, multi-layered, redundant high-throughput satellite network with ubiquitous, always-available access and features speeds up to 15×2 Mbps globally.  Paired with the Plane Simple Ku-band tail-mounted antenna system, high-speed data access for more business aviation owners globally is simplified through ease of installation, flexible pricing plans, and advanced antenna technology.

The intelligent design of the SD Plane Simple Antenna System, which has been built in partnership with QEST, Quantenelektronische Systeme GmbH, a worldwide market leader in innovative aeronautical antennas, consists of just two-Line Replaceable Units, the Satcom Direct modem, and the tail mount antenna. “This minimizes invasive installation, reduces maintenance fees, and provides an easy transition pathway to upgrade connectivity services. The modem can be located in the unpressurised part of the cabin and with just one box gives owners valuable stowage and cabin space back,” adds Moore.

SD is the master distributor of the Intelsat FlexExec service and together the companies are enabling more seamless communication options and managed services. Power-by-the-hour or pay-per-usage plans will be available, with all services supported by the award winning Satcom Direct 24/7/365 customer service team.

In the game changing move, customers will all have access to the benefits of the Satcom Direct ecosystem of infrastructure including the SD Data Centre, satellite ground stations, and global points-of-presence; hardware including handsets, routers, antennas, and the associated software accessible through the apps they manage; as well as airtime from its portfolio of satellite network providers. With the launch of the SD Plane Simple Antenna Series, just one call to Satcom Direct gives buyers access to all that is required to set up an advanced technology, reliable, consistent, connectivity system to better support inflight productivity, enhance leisure time and enable improved operational management for more customers.
