The Safe Return Emergency Autoland, developed by Garmin, is a revolutionary safety system that allows passengers to land the aircraft safely with the press of a single button, without any pilot intervention. In the event of pilot incapacitation, the system autonomously controls the aircraft, communicates with air traffic control, selects an appropriate airport, and executes a complete approach and landing.

“This certification represents a major milestone for HondaJet and for business aviation safety,” said Michimasa Fujino, President and CEO of Honda Aircraft Company. “As a company founded on the pursuit of aviation safety and innovation, we are proud to offer our customers this groundbreaking technology that provides an added layer of protection for every flight. The availability of Emergency Autoland on the HondaJet Elite II reflects our unwavering commitment to making flight safer for everyone on board.”

The HondaJet Elite II is equipped with the Garmin G3000 integrated avionics suite, which serves as the foundation for the Safe Return Emergency Autoland integration. The aircraft has a maximum speed of 422 knots TAS, a range of 1,437 nautical miles, and a maximum operating altitude of 43,000 feet.

Honda Aircraft Company will offer the Emergency Autoland capability on new HondaJet Elite II aircraft. The company is also exploring retrofit options for existing HondaJet operators who wish to upgrade their aircraft with this advanced safety feature. The FAA certification follows extensive testing and validation of the system’s performance across a wide range of flight conditions and scenarios.
