The entry into service of the Cessna Citation M2 Gen2 with Garmin autothrottles marks the latest advancement in the world’s most delivered light-entry business jet.
The addition of Garmin autothrottles to the Citation M2 Gen2 provides pilots with a significant advancement in automated power management, reducing workload during critical phases of flight and improving fuel efficiency. The autothrottle system automatically adjusts engine thrust to maintain selected speed or flight parameters, allowing pilots to focus more attention on navigation and situational awareness.
“The Citation M2 Gen2 with Garmin autothrottles represents another step forward in making business aviation more accessible and easier to operate for owner-pilots and flight departments,” said a Textron Aviation spokesperson. “By integrating autothrottles into the Citation M2 Gen2, we are providing our customers with greater control, precision, and confidence on every flight.”
The Gen2 update introduced a number of enhancements, including the Garmin G3000 Touch avionics suite, improved LED lighting, updated interior design options, and improvements to various systems. The addition of autothrottles further enhances the aircraft’s capabilities.
The Citation M2 Gen2 is powered by two Williams International FJ44-1AP-21 turbofan engines and offers a maximum cruise speed of 404 KTAS, a maximum range of 1,550 nm, and a maximum operating altitude of 41,000 feet. The aircraft can carry up to seven passengers and is certified for single-pilot operation.
The Citation M2 family has long been the top-selling light-entry business jet in the world, with more deliveries than any other aircraft in its class since the original Citation M2 entered service. The Gen2 update and the addition of autothrottles are expected to further strengthen its position as the preferred choice for owner-pilots and small flight departments entering the turbine aircraft market.
