The Cessna Citation CJ3 Gen2 features a fully redesigned cockpit centred around the Garmin G3000 integrated flight deck, replacing the previous-generation avionics and significantly improving pilot situational awareness, workload management, and automation capabilities. The Garmin G3000 system incorporates large-format touchscreen displays, providing an intuitive interface for managing all aspects of the aircraft’s systems.

“The Citation CJ3 Gen2 represents our most comprehensive update to this platform, delivering significant improvements in avionics technology, passenger comfort, and operational efficiency,” said a Textron Aviation spokesperson. “We are proud to continue the strong legacy of the CJ3 family with a generation update that our customers have been excited about.”

In addition to the advanced avionics, the CJ3 Gen2 features an updated cabin design with new materials, improved lighting, enhanced sound insulation for a quieter environment, and modernized passenger amenities. The aircraft retains the CJ3’s well-regarded performance characteristics, including a maximum speed of 417 KTAS and a range of 2,040 nautical miles.

The Citation CJ3 is powered by two Williams International FJ44-3A engines and is certified for single-pilot operation, making it a popular choice for owner-pilots and small flight departments. The Gen2 update enhances the aircraft’s competitiveness in the light business jet segment, where it has been a market leader since the original CJ3 entered service in 2004.

Textron Aviation also confirmed that the CJ3 Gen2 includes the integration of Garmin autothrottles, advanced weather radar, ADS-B Out compliance, and enhanced connectivity options, reflecting the growing demand for digital integration and automation across the business aviation sector. Customer deliveries of the CJ3 Gen2 are underway, with a strong order backlog supporting production.
