The Piaggio Avanti is an Italian build, twin-turboprop aircraft with engines mounted in a pusher configuration. The 1982 patented design, features three horizontal surfaces with a small forward wing addition to the main wing and T-tail. Among the other particularities of the Avanti is the cabin cross-section that varies continuously along the length of the aircraft; the shape similar to an airfoil section contributes up to 20% of the Avanti’s total lift.

The Piaggio Avanti first flew on September 23, 1986, prior to its FAA certification in October 1990. In 1998, the program received the prestigious Italian luxury car owner, Piero Ferrari endorsement when he led a group of investors to rescue the highly indebted program.

The 2005 Avanti II version, features uprated Pratt & Whitney PT6A-66B turboprop engines enabling the model to fly 11 mph faster, with better fuel economy. This version also introduced a glass cockpit powered by Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21. The latest 2015 Avanti EVO introduces a new Hartzell five-blade propellers, new winglets, and an additional 60-gallon fuel tank option to increase the range to 1,809 NM.

The Avanti offers a stand-up cabin with a maximum height of 5 ft. 9 in – the tallest in class, however since the Avanti EVO fuselage has a tapering cabin cross-section, the maximum height and width are achieved in the middle of the cabin.

Thanks to its pusher turboprop design with propellers and engine exhaust behind the cabin, the interior noise of the Avanti EVO is lower than in any other conventional turboprop aircraft. At the cruise level, the internal noise measures 74 dB(A) and 65 SIL (dB).

The Avanti EVO interior can be configured in one of the four offerable corporate layouts with six or seven VIP seats. A shuttle type layout is also available featuring seven seats in an airliner configuration.

The VIP seats furnished in the finest Poltrona Frau leather are manufactured by Italian high-end aircraft interior supplier Iacobucci HF. The EVO comes with a standard restroom separated from the cabin with an aft partition equipped with a sliding door and a 44-cu ft baggage compartment.
