The Falcon 6X has been acquired to replace Ireland’s aging long-range government transport aircraft, delivering significantly enhanced range, comfort, and operational capability. The aircraft’s range of 5,500 nautical miles enables non-stop flights between Dublin and key international destinations, including Washington D.C., Beijing, and Sydney, providing Ireland’s government with a genuinely global transport capability.
ALTEA, a specialist aviation services company, played a key role in supporting the procurement and delivery process, leveraging its deep expertise in government and special-mission aviation to ensure the aircraft met the specific operational requirements of the Irish Air Corps. The company’s involvement reflects ALTEA’s growing position as a trusted partner for European governments seeking to upgrade their VIP and government transport capabilities.
The Falcon 6X’s ultra-wide cabin — the widest of any purpose-built business jet — allows for a dedicated meeting room, a rest area with full-flat beds, and a separate communications station for classified discussions. These features make it well-suited for head-of-state and senior government official transport missions.
The Irish Air Corps has a long history of operating Dassault Falcon aircraft for government transport missions. The acquisition of the Falcon 6X represents a generational step forward in capability, providing Ireland with one of the most advanced and capable government transport aircraft available in its class.
The Department of Defence expressed satisfaction with the acquisition, noting that the Falcon 6X will significantly enhance Ireland’s ability to conduct diplomatic missions, government transport operations, and international search-and-rescue coordination.
